The Port Gamble, Washington project represents Global Remote Sensing's function to support larger engineering undertakings in ports and harbors.  In December, 2006, Global Remote Sensing was tasked with creating comprehensive maps of the seabed conditions at Port Gamble, Washington.  The survey included mobilization and demobilization of equipment aboard Global Remote Sensing's ALMAR research vessel and completion of patch tests for calibration of the multibeam system.

The multibeam survey was conducted to provide complete coverage of seabed conditions within the proposed survey area for the purpose of measuring pre-dredge sediment quantities. The multibeam system, a Simrad EM3002s MBES, provided swath coverage of approximately four times the water depth.  Multibeam post-processing was performed using CARIS HIPS 6.0 bathymetric processing system.  he final processing step involved geoencoding all corrected data into the survey grid.  An output file containing spatial coordinates for all data points (e.g., easting, northing, and depth elevation in MLLW) was created for input into Global Mapper for final chart development and generation of the DTM and contours, respectively. A final contour editing process was conducted to provide contours sufficient for the CADD formats of the engineering drawings.
