Global Remote Sensing, LLC (GR Sensing), of Seattle, WA, conducted a precision hydrographic survey and sub-bottom profiling survey at a capped seafloor sediment disposal pit in Sinclair Inlet. The hydrographic survey was used to check for changes in seafloor contours potentially indicative of sediment deposition, erosion, or settling.  The sub-bottom profiling provided information on changes in the thickness of the protective covering layers and aided in the assessment of the occurrence of significant mixing of cap layers with underlying materials.  The disposal pit area surveyed was approximately square, with dimensions of 800 feet x 800 feet.

GR Sensing also conducted a precision hydrographic survey at a recently capped nearshore area in the vicinity of the disposal pit.  This area is roughly rectangular with dimensions of approximately 800 feet x 1,000 feet.

This work was performed on behalf of the U.S. Navy as part of the 2005 marine monitoring at Operable Unit B Marine at the Bremerton Naval Complex (BNC).
